Cervical spondylosis is well known as neck arthritis. This is that form of arthritis which is related to cervical spine or neck bones. This affects the joints and discs of the neck which leads to lesser movement of the neck. It is usually a result of the wear and tear of the cartilage of neck bones. Cervical spondylosis is not a very well known phenomenon to people, in general. Here are a few reasons or causes due to which cervical spondylosis or neck arthritis can be formed. • The main reason is the wear and tear of neck cartilage. Less friction between neck bones could lead to this disease.
• If the spinal disks develop cracks then it can affect and leak the soft cushiony material which helps in neck movement.
• In case of an accident or injury, the aging process could be easily accelerated and this leads sooner removal of cushiony material.
• Overweight could be another reason or inactivity.
• Smoking
• Neck injuries
• Extra pressure on neck such as weight lifting can affect the neck bones and cartilage in a bad manner.
• Genetic factors or family history and background also shows its effects
• Many changes take place in all body parts with age and this is one of the biggest reasons for neck arthritis to happen in the first place.
• Stiffness or restrictive movement of neck bones.
There are a few symptoms of cervical spondylosis which could be a red signal for you to get yourself checked up by a doctor. A few of the symptoms are mentioned below.
• Stiffness of neck getting even worse
• Headaches mostly occurring at the back of the head
• Increased pain while standing, sniffing, coughing, tilting, neck movements or sneezing
• Numbness felt in arms and shoulders and in some cases legs as well
• Loss of bladder control
The causes strictly tend to point towards neck arthritis but in they could be causes of some other problems or just regular issues which can be easily treated so it is highly advised to a consult a doctor as soon as anything unusual is felt.

Cervical spondylosis is a dangerous disease as it affects the support system of our body- spinal cord. The early diagnosis and treatment is obligatory for better treatment. This is usually felt by elderly people or above the age of 40 because it happens with age.
