The secret and not so secret wish of every woman is to keep looking young forever. Probably the greatest discovery in the future will be the answer to that wish.
For now however we know that there are going to be wrinkles, sagging skin, aching joints, weak muscles, greying hair among other things in the future. However we can try and stave it off for as long as we can by following these tips to stay younger and healthier both in body and mind.
1). The first and foremost is to keep your weight stable. Nothing can make a woman look old faster than an overweight body.
All women who manage to look beautiful and/or attractive till a later age have managed to keep their weight under control. If you too want to stay in that league eat moderately and correctly. Eat smaller portions, avoid useless calories like sugary drinks and junk food.
2). Avoid exposure to sunlight. UV rays are the culprits in causing wrinkles and other skin problems. Use a sunscreen when outdoors. Use one preferably with zinc and titanium dioxide.
3). Exfoliate, hydrate and moisturise your skin regularly. This will keep your skin soft and glowing always. Try to use natural exfoliators and moisturisers like almond oil.
There are many good anti-wrinkle and anti-ageing products for your skin. Choose one that suits your skin type.
4). Keep a positive attitude. A grumpy and worried expression will not only make you look older but will also add to your wrinkles. Always smile and keep a sunny disposition.
Laugh a lot and choose to be happy no matter what your condition in life may be. You don’t have to be down in the dumps all the time and in any case that won’t help any. Choosing to look at the brighter side of life will keep your mind and heart young always.
5). Go for long walks in the outdoors. The fresh air and exercise will do you tons of good. Being outdoors with nature is the best rejuvenator ever.
You could also opt to work out in the gym. Remember to do some weight lifting exercises to strengthen and tone your muscles. For a fit body you could go in for yoga, Pilates, aerobics or tai-chi.
6). Meditate to reduce stress and to keep harmony of mind and body. Take just 10 minutes off to sit quietly and close your eyes. Imagine yourself on a sunny beach or a beautiful garden and let all the tension dissipate.
7). Sleep well. Keep a regular sleeping schedule and sleep proper hours. Over sleeping or lack if sleep disrupts the melatonin levels in your body. Melatonin protects you from many things including cancer and ageing. So get into good sleep habits and preserve your body.
8). Take time off to be playful. Spend time with your pet or with children and just forget that you are “old”. Don’t lose sight of the beauty and excitement of life.
9). Eat healthy stuff like fresh fruits, lots of veggies, red wine, green tea, oils that will help keep your body and skin supple, nuts and avoid pastries, cakes and canned foods.
19). Last but not the least keep up physical intimacy with your partner. Intimate touch helps release hormones which reduce stress and anxiety. They also boost your mood and health.
